In the Beginning...

As I am sure everyone is aware of, in three days I am leaving this fair land of ours in exchange for the Old World across the sea. In other words, I will be doing a bit of traveling through Europe making my way towards Salamanca, Spain which will be my home for the fall semester. Since almost nobody that I've told I'm studying abroad knows exactly where Salamanca is; I've included this helpful visual:

However, before I get to Salamanca, I will be making stops in London (along with my dad), Amsterdam, Lyon, and Chambery (to see my lovely friend Katherine). Once I do arrive in Salamanca, I'll be taking classes (in Spanish) through my study abroad program in conjunction with the University of Salamanca, living with an older couple (who speak Spanish), and generally improving my language skills (in, what else, Spanish).

Many people I've talked to about studying abroad have told me that a blog is a good way to record my experiences and thoughts as I have them, so when I get back to the states and people ask me how my trip was, I have something more meaningful than just "good" to say to them. Also, it will be something fun to look back through, as a chronicle of my time there. Anyway, hopefully I'll keep up posting on a semi-normal schedule so enjoy!
